Admission to CAI College: Firm members Kenneth R. Sauter and Caroline Record have each been admitted to the Community Associations Institute College of Community Association Lawyers. Election Kenneth R. Sauter has been elected President of the Community Associations Political Action Committee for 2008. Election as Officer of NJ CAI: Firm member Caroline Record was recently elected 2008 President of the New Jersey Community Associations Institute. Award Kenneth R. Sauter was recently named Committee Chair of the Year for his chairmanship of the CAI-NJ legislative action committee, a role which he will continue in 2008. Seminar Speaker: Kenneth R. Sauter was a speaker at the CBA Remodelers Council on February 27, 2008 on the topic of Construction Contracts. Homebuyer Seminar Presenter: Kenneth R. Sauter presented "Step by Step to Home Ownership" for the Housing Partnership of Morris County on February 27, 2008. This is a special program for first-time homebuyers, and the tenth time that Mr. Sauter is presenting this program for the Housing Partnership of Morris County. Election as Bar Association Trustee: Firm member Andrew R. Jacobs has been elected to the 2008 Board of Trustees of the Morris County Bar Association. Nomination as Committee Chair: Kenneth R. Sauter has been re-nominated as Legislative Action Committee Chair for the New Jersey Community Association Institutes. (January 2008) Home Ownership Seminar: Kenneth R. Sauter presented a seminar entitled "Step by Step to Home Ownership," sponsored by Housing Partnership, in Dover, New Jersey on September 26, 2007. This is the 14th time that Mr. Sauter has been invited to present this seminar for potential homeowners. CBA Workshop Presenter: Kenneth R. Sauter was a presenter at a Community Builders Association of New Jersey workshop on June 28, 2007 in Whippany, New Jersey, entitled "How Choosing the Right Source of Project Funding Can Lead to Success or Failure: Not All Lenders are Created Equal." Gun Violence Panel Discussion:Tom Jardim acted as a moderator of a panel discussion held at Rutgers-Newark Law School on May 11, 2007, on "Municipal and Law Enforcement Efforts to Reduce Urban Gun Violence." Participants in the panel included Irvington Mayor Wayne Smith, Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy, East Orange Police Director Jose Cordero and Newark Councilman Ron Rice, Jr. The panel discussion was part of an all-day conference sponsored in part by CeasefireNJ, a gun violence prevention organization of which Mr. Jardim is the Chairman.

Association Law CLE program, A Changing Landscape in a
Growing Field, on March 29-30, 2007 in Somerset, New
Jersey. Mr. Sauter's panel, "From the Capitol," will focus on
recent and pending legislative initiatives and issues impacting
community associations.

Thomas C. Jardim was recently elected to the Board of
Trustees of the Community Health Law Project. The Community
Health Law Project (CHLP) is a nonprofit advocacy and legal
services organization dedicated to serving the needs of
low-income people with disabilities in New Jersey. Founded in
1976, CHLP has represented over 60,000 individuals on a wide
range of civil matters. Its staff of over 65 operates out
of regional offices in Bloomfield, Elizabeth, Trenton, Asbury
Park, and Collingswood; satellite offices in Jersey City, Toms
River, Mt. Holly, and Absecon; and an administration office in
South Orange. Through negotiation, litigation, and advocacy,
CHLP removes discrimination, protects rights, and preserves
independence and quality of life.
CHLP activities include providing education,
assistance, and representation to Medicare and Medicaid
beneficiaries who are in managed health care plans; filing
litigation to enforce state and federal fair housing laws that
govern barrier-free accessibility; advocating for enforcement of
barrier-free accessibility in New Jersey buildings and programs,
with a special emphasis on such public accommodations as stores,
restaurants, physicians’ offices, theaters, colleges, and
recreational facilities; and with the support of the New Jersey
State Bar Foundation, presenting Law and Disabilities
Conferences at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick.

Appointment as Chairman of CeasefireNJ:

C. Jardim was elected as the Chairman of CeasefireNJ in
Spring 2005. Ceasefire NJ is a non-partisan, volunteer
organization whose members seek to lower the level of gun
violence in New Jersey and our country. Begun in 1988 by Rev.
Jack Johnson, Ceasefire NJ includes members throughout the state
who represent a cross-section of racial, religious,
professional, political and age groups. Its goal is to make New
Jersey safer by decreasing the proliferation and the misuse of
firearms. The current 25-member Board chaired by Mr. Jardim
includes leaders from across the State, including
former Governor Donald DiFrancesco and former U.S. Senator
Robert Toricelli.
Firm member Kenneth R. Sauter was an instructor at a recent Community Associations Institute seminar in Toms River, New Jersey, entitled "ABC's - A Basic Court for Community Associations."
